Garden with Insight v1.0 Help: Tool action functions: cultivate soil

Cultivating the soil is identical to mixing the soil, only with a constant tool depth of 0.1 meter (about four inches) and a constant tool area of 0.1 square meter (about one square foot). Since the top soil layer is always 10 mm (half an inch) deep, you are usually only mixing the two top soil layers when you cultivate the soil.

Of course, cultivating the soil in reality does many things not simulated here. It can break up a hard crust that might have been formed by erosion on the surface of the soil, which allows more exchange of air and water (and less erosion). And it can make it easier for the roots and stems of tiny seedlings to penetrate the soil upon germination.
